Stunned and blown away

Had free preview tickets to see the film version of The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas, based on the book by John Boyne.

It tells the story of Bruno, the 8-year-old son of a Nazi commandant, and Shmuel, a Jewish boy, who lives in the work camp Bruno’s father is responsible for. The boys make friends through the barbed wire fence, as Bruno tries to understand what’s going on and keep their friendship a secret.

Having read the book a year ago, I knew how the story played out. However, watching the ending was very powerful and shocking.

It’s out this weekend nationally and you have to see it. The trailer is below:
